Dr. Wright

Meet Dr. Thomas Wright, medical director of Laser Lipo and Vein Center. Dr. Wright is a board-certified Venous and Lymphatic Medicine and cosmetic surgery specialist, with over 25 years of practicing experience. A graduate of the University of Missouri Columbia medical program, Dr. Wright was one of the first two hundred surgeons to become a diplomat in Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. Dr. Wright is a leading expert in the field and Venous Disease Lymphatic Diseases, including Lipedema. He has published scientific papers on new surgical techniques lipedema, and venous disease.

Dr. Wright’s original research was recognized with honors from the American College of Phlebology.  He has been WebMD Preferred Provider and Vitals Preferred provider since 2019,  Dr. Wright has received the Patients’ Choice Award multiple times, he has been a including in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Additionally, he received the Compassionate Doctor Award in those same years. HeathTap recognized Dr. Wright with the Top Doctor Award and Top Phlebologist in 2013.

Dr. Wright is a Fellow of the American Venous and Lymphatic Society, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, a member and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He is also a certified medical sonographer with credentials from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Dr. Wright’s research and interests focus on vein treatments, venous health, and minimally invasive body sculpting.

Professional Achievements in Lipedema & Tumesent Liposuction

Dr. Thomas Wright has written over 30 Scientific abstracts, book chapters and peer-reviewed publications, including 9 peer-reviewed manuscripts on lipedema in the last 3 years.  He recently published his research outlining improvements in lipedema patients’ quality of life following Lipedema Reduction Surgery LRS using his specific technique.  He is a co-author of the US lipedema Standard of Care Guidelines, and he authored case reports of lipedema coexisting with anorexia nervosa and lipedema coexisting with malnutrition. He was trained in the tumescent liposuction technique by its originator, Dr. Jeffrey Klein.  Dr Wright has also trained with originators of lipedema surgery in Germany.  Dr. Wright has performed thousands of tumescent liposuction procedures for cosmetic and lipedema patients. He has developed his own lymphatic-sparing surgical technique using micro cannulas to limit unnecessary injury to the lymphatics during tumescent liposuction.
